The
International Basket Brigade is the annual campaign to provide food
and gifts for people that need a hand – children, the elderly,
hungry & homeless – during the holiday season each year. To
date, hundreds of teams of volunteers feed more than 2 million
people in 400 cities, across 74 countries annually. We currently
have ten Basket Brigade teams across Australia who help thousands
of people every Christmas with food and toys. Throughout the
holiday season International Basket Brigade volunteers deliver
food, clothing, and hope to those who need it most. The Magic
Moments Foundation would be honored to have you become a part of
this truly wonderful event.
We are looking for coordinators and volunteers to help us help more

We will
put you in contact with a Basket Brigade coordinator in your area.
Or look at creating your own team. Speaking from experience as a
coordinator – It is exhilarating, challenging and great fun!
While the recipients receive much needed food and gifts, all of our
volunteers also receive a gift – the joy of selfless
giving!
The
Basket Brigades are run totally by volunteers – people like
yourself who care about making a difference in the lives of
others.
The
Basket Brigade works with local grass routes organizations that
work with families on a regular basis to assist those that are
truly needy. By working with these organizations we are able
to help their organization provide services that they would
otherwise struggle to provide. We also know that the people
they recommend are worthy of the donations.
The
Baskets are given anonymously – the only note they receive asks
them to take care of themselves and if one day they find themselves
in a position to help another then we encourage them to do so –
the kindness of a stranger concept / pay if
forward
The
Basket Brigade has no religious or political
affiliations – anyone is welcome
to donate to the cause – funds, products or services or as a
volunteer.
A
basket costs us approximately $30 to put together – the retail
value of the basket is excess of $100 excluding the
toys.
We have
a DVD presentation, Brochure and Website that all provide
opportunites to learn more about the brigades and how companies and
individuals can assist.
The
Basket Brigades are scattered across the country and reach from the
large cities to the small towns. Where ever we know of a
family in need we will deliver a basket.
Last
year we packed 3,500 Baskets across Australia and provided
supplies to three of the inner city shelters. This year
our aim is to provide a special Christmas treat to over 6,000
families to a special festive surprise.
A
donation of $300 will feed 10 families, $1,200 will feed 400
families etc Any donation no matter how big or small
helps
All
monies raised by the Basket Brigade go to the cause.
All
donations over $2 are tax deductible.
