Packing Day
Packing Day is the culmination of 12 months hard work by the committees of volunteers across Australia!
We coordinate and achieve our aim to help families during the festive season through a mixture of coordinated logistics, experienced committees, volunteers, and an attitude of fun and hard work.
Would you like to help? Check the page for your local Basket Brigade - we are always looking for new committee members, people to help with fundraising and volunteers for packing day.
If you would like to receive updates by e-mail, or join us on Packing Day please register.
One easy thing I did last year impacted on 200+ people.
Ross, Packing Day Volunteer, MelbourneI have always wanted to contribute but I didn’t really know how or if my little part would make a difference. Going to packing day 2005 I was able to be part of a heartfelt team that touched over 1100 families stretching across Victoria. By being part of this amazing effort I have realised many truths:
- If each individual thought their little bit wouldn’t help there would be nothing
- As a team, 200 wonderful souls can achieve the work of thousands – true synergy of purpose.
- My singular effort touched each and every one of the 1100 families blessed by this contribution.
- My singular effort touched each and every other volunteer who also just by stepping up was able to live this gift.
By joining the Basket Brigade I have had access to the simplest and most rewarding work I have ever done. I truly know that by my simple contribution that touched many I have already received 10 fold in return,
One easy thing I did last year impacted on 200+ people.
Just before December I asked my boss if we could have a wishing tree at our company funded Christmas party. All people attending were given an invitation which the Basket Brigade provided. It asked them if they would like to bring a toy along to be given to a child as a super Christmas surprise.
Well I was inundated by wonderful work colleges all wanting to help and find out more about what I was part of. Some even came along to packing day to share the experience for themselves.
My boss told me early this year how much he respected my imitative to set up the wishing tree, and I believe has come into consideration over favourable decisions I have received since.
Just ask the Basket Brigade how you can help. There are heaps of opportunities to create a real difference in people’s lives……and your own."
An invitation to contribute from a grateful volunteer
