Grandies Gifting Program
Q: Do I buy the gifts myself?
A: Yes, you, or a group of people, can help to buy the gifts for your adopted Grandy. You can even ask local businesses or shops to donate the wish list item(s)!
Q: Do I have to get everything on the wish list?
A: Yes, if you adopt a Grandy, then you need to help fulfil their entire wish list. Remember that these people don't have the ability to buy a lot of these wish list items themselves, nor do they have friends/family that can help them to do so. We check to make sure that the wish list is not unreasonable in terms of what is being asked. If you do have problems fulfilling the entire wish list, contact us as soon as possible so we can help to see if there is an alternative solution.
Q: What if I am unable to find an item that is specified on the adopted Grandies wish list?
A: Not to worry, you can always get a gift card/voucher for the approximate amount of what the wish list item costs if you are unable to find the exact item. Your adopted Grandy would appreciate the opportunity to go shopping themself for an item that they would like to have!
Q: Do I have to gift wrap my wish list items?
A: Yes, it is encouraged that you gift-wrap the items as you would for any gift you would give to someone for an occasion. You can even write a Christmas card to personalise your gift even further!
Q: I have purchased all my wish list items, now what?
A: Please drop off your completed wish list for your adopted Grandy during Monday 12th December to Friday 16th December at one of the following locations:
| 1. Panalpina (Cnr Bourke Road & Doody Street, Alexandria) between Monday-Friday 9am-4pm. Contact is Michelle Roberts. | ||
| 2. NetApp Australia (Level 16, 100 Miller Street – Northpoint Building, North Sydney) between Monday-Friday 9:30am-4:30pm. Contact is Reception. |
Q: What happens once I have dropped off my wish list items?
A: A small group of volunteers will help to deliver the wish list items to the nominated address/facilities where your adopted Grandy resides. This will occur on Monday 19th December.
Q: Can I get a tax-deductible receipt for the items I have purchased?
A: Yes, once you adopt a Grandy, you will have received instructions on how to submit your receipts in the email confirmation.
Q: My organisation can benefit from being recipients of the Grandies Gifting Program. How can we participate?
A: Great! If you are a non-profit organisation and believe that your clients can benefit from receiving a wish list of items, please get in contact with us.
Q: Who do I contact if I have any questions regarding this program?
A: Feel free to contact us via email.
Currently the Grandies Gifting Program is operating in Sydney, NSW.
The Grandies Gifting Program provides an opportunity to help fulfil wish lists for people who have no family or friends – mainly the elderly or disabled living in care facilities. Many of the items on their wish lists are items we would consider essentials for daily living.
An example of a wish list might be:
- Peter – Male – 58 years old:
- Singlets (Large)
- Winter Boots (Size 10)
- Shaving Cream
- After Shave
- Chocolates
How Does it work?
- Choose the Grandy that you would like to adopt through our “check out” system
- Purchase the wish list items
- Wrap the items and place in a gift bag, labelled with the Grandy’s ID
- Deliver them to any of our drop off locations specified by the deadline and we will deliver them to the appropriate organisation/facilities.
It’s that simple!
When does the program operate?
The program operates twice a year:- July
- December
